Process & Mechanical Drafter (CAD)

Location: On-site in Rochester and/or Rush, New York, with occasional travel to customer and supplier locations.

Salary: $22.00–$34.00 per hour, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Develop detailed 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings from 3D models using drafting standards, GD&T, and dimensioning best practices.
• Support 3D modeling, mechanical detailing, process piping, and equipment layouts for skid-based systems, containerized equipment, facilities, and retrofits.
• Create and maintain bills of materials, engineering change notices, and technical drawing packages.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, controls, fabrication, and field teams to resolve technical questions and improve manufacturability.
• Document as-built conditions and contribute to proposals, estimates, technical reviews, and design deliverables.
• Improve drafting standards, workflows, tools, safety practices, and design quality.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of mechanical or process piping drafting experience, ideally with industrial equipment, skid-based, or containerized systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or AutoCAD 3D, plus 2D drafting tools.
• Strong knowledge of technical drawings, views, sections, GD&T, dimensioning, tolerance stacks, and fabrication-ready documentation.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Design Technology, or equivalent technical certification or experience.
• Strong attention to detail, technical problem-solving, independent working ability, and effective cross-functional communication.
• Ability to work on-site in Rochester and/or Rush, NY, and travel to customer or supplier locations as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel detailing and advanced piping layouts.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial process safety principles.
