Financial Accountant (GL)

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands; hybrid work with the possibility to work from home two or three days per week. The role supports the Belgium branch and collaborates with offices in Merelbeke.

What you will do

• Process accurate, complete, and timely financial data across general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, subsystem reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including statutory, regulatory, VAT, and Corporate Income Tax reporting.
• Provide balance sheet and profit and loss information to Head Office in line with IFRS and group reporting requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving findings.
• Provide accounting support for projects, business initiatives, activity settlements, and financial data requirements.
• Improve processes, strengthen controls, and implement standardized ways of working across entities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in a similar financial accounting role.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical, problem-solving, and accuracy skills.
• English proficiency is essential; Dutch is preferred.
• Knowledge of lending, credit products, or consumer finance is advantageous.
