Staff Software Engineer (AI/Geospatial)

Location: On-site in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.

Salary: $205K–$227K annually, including base salary and a portion of variable compensation.

What you will do

• Design and build connector and adapter layers that map LiDAR- and imagery-derived asset detections into hirify.global products.
• Architect automated detection-to-case pipelines with photo evidence, GPS coordinates, severity scores, and routing into product workflow engines.
• Evaluate, integrate, or build computer-vision and LiDAR-fusion models, including potential integration with the existing Vision AI microservice.
• Design the data model and storage layer for continuously updated spatial data shared by five Community Operations products.
• Own a tiered sensing-ingestion model covering satellite, fleet-vehicle camera, and full LiDAR survey data with different refresh rates, accuracy levels, and price points.
• Set technical direction, testing, monitoring, and data-quality standards for regulatory- and safety-relevant workflows, while coordinating roadmap delivery across product teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and a track record of owning complex, cross-system integrations end to end in a production SaaS environment.
• Experience building or integrating computer-vision, LiDAR, or geospatial data-processing pipelines; comfort with point-cloud or 3D spatial data.
• Strong data-modeling and API/connector design skills, including reconciliation of third-party schemas with multiple internal data models.
• Experience with geospatial systems such as PostGIS, spatial indexing, and coordinate reference systems.
• Ability to make and defend build-versus-integrate decisions with incomplete information and ambiguous vendor integration paths.
• Experience partnering across multiple product teams and translating technical vision into a scoped, sequenced delivery plan.
• Proficiency with AI-native engineering workflows, including directing AI tooling for scaffolding, test generation, and code review while retaining ownership of architecture and correctness.
• Excellent written communication and ability to produce technical design documents aligning stakeholders across five product teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Point-cloud or 3D spatial data experience.
• Experience shipping systems where data accuracy has regulatory, infrastructure, public-sector, or safety consequences.
