Engineering Section Manager - Avionics

Location: Mojave, California, United States. Travel may be required, estimated at less than 10%. The role follows a 9/80 schedule.

Base salary: $116,000–$196,000 for Manager level; $182,000–$238,000 for Senior Manager level. Level and salary are determined case by case.

What you will do

• Manage and develop the Avionics Section and its engineering talent.
• Provide technical guidance, peer review, and support for avionics design, integration, testing, and analysis.
• Establish and enforce technical best practices and standards with senior technical leaders.
• Lead hiring, performance management, employee development, and retention activities.
• Coordinate staffing across programs and resolve resource conflicts.
• Support strategic staffing, proposals, and program-chargeable engineering work.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success as an individual technical contributor or technical team leader.
• Experience recruiting and hiring technical employees.
• Technical expertise in at least one engineering domain relevant to avionics.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict-resolution, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and solve multidisciplinary, open-ended problems.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Department of War security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience working in matrixed organizations and staffing technical personnel across multiple programs.
• Experience managing technical teams of 10 or more in resource-constrained aerospace development environments.
• Active Department of War security clearance.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience for Manager level, or 15+ years for Senior Manager level.
