- Perform structural analysis of aircraft modifications and provide mechanical design support.
- Prepare technical documentation required to support airworthiness.
- Determine stress levels in primary and secondary aircraft structures, systems, and equipment.
- Compare calculated stresses with material properties to predict failure and structural instabilities.
- Apply structural mechanics, failure theories, and load analysis methods.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university.
- Apply structural mechanics principles to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
- Generate free-body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
- Have working knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Security clearances may require U.S. citizenship and eligibility to access classified information.
Nice to have
- Exposure to CAD or finite element analysis tools and experience with mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, or mechanisms.
- Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, automation, and numerical analysis programming.
- Knowledge of finite element methods, fatigue, and damage tolerance principles.
