Principal Build Reliability Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite role with up to 30% travel

What you will do

• Evaluate product and process data to improve manufacturing quality and represent quality objectives in design and development.
• Support PDR and CDR activities by assessing design for quality, manufacturability, risk mitigation, testing, and inspection methods.
• Lead inspection planning, measurement-system validation, test-process development, and manufacturability reviews.
• Coordinate First Build Reviews, engineering walkdowns, as-built documentation, and acceptance criteria for production milestones.
• Lead root-cause, corrective-action, containment, issue-ticket, and nonconforming-hardware activities.
• Review engineering orders, work orders, drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and production processes for quality and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, or mechanical engineering, or physics.
• At least 5 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or design engineering.
• Experience with complex electro-mechanical, mechanical, or composite systems in production or during ramp-up.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause and corrective-action methods, APQP, metrology, PFMEA, and control plans.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR export-control eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylee status, or the ability to obtain required authorizations.
• Must be able to work extended hours or weekends, travel up to 30%, and lift more than 50 pounds.
