Manager, Data Science (AI)

Location: Charlotte, NC, United States; hybrid attendance at the Southend office three days per week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Base pay: $170,000–$215,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data scientists while establishing technical standards and growth paths.
• Partner with product, engineering, MLOps, analytics, platform, and business leaders to prioritize high-value machine learning and AI opportunities.
• Oversee data acquisition, feature engineering, model design, validation, deployment, monitoring, and the full transition from prototype to production.
• Improve experimentation, documentation, testing, versioning, code review, reproducibility, and governance practices.
• Champion explainability, fairness, reliability, and responsible model development.
• Translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for technical and executive audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of applied data science experience, including leadership or people management experience.
• Experience leading teams through data preparation, modeling, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
• Experience with cloud-based ML platforms, preferably AWS SageMaker or Snowpark, plus knowledge of MLOps, reproducibility, and governance.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; employer visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech or high-scale consumer businesses.
• Background in software engineering, model deployment, or data platform integration.
• Experience managing hybrid teams.
• Knowledge of GenAI and LLMs, including Retrieval Augmented Generation and agentic workflows.
