Staff Backend Engineer - Core Team (Python/AI)

Location: Paris, France — hybrid with 3 days per week in the office. Up to 15 days of remote work from abroad per year.

Salary: €72,000–€115,000 per year

What you will do

• Drive technical strategy and architecture for the Core team, including scalable services, event-driven systems, and shared capabilities.
• Design and maintain core data models for clients, studios, locations, franchises, and namespaces.
• Develop authentication, permissions, franchise administration tools, buyables architectures, and the AI semantic layer.
• Own complex cross-team technical problems across data models, APIs, networking, infrastructure, scalability, and reliability.
• Improve platform observability and reliability using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, and Sentry.
• Mentor engineers, lead through influence, review designs and code, and shape backend and DevOps practices.

Requirements

• Extensive backend engineering experience, particularly with Python.
• Strong experience designing and evolving distributed systems at scale for millions of users or similarly complex workloads.
• Ability to make architectural decisions across data modelling, service boundaries, APIs, networking, and infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams without formal authority.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Paris with 3 office days per week.

• Django experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows.
