Mechanical Test Engineer (Hardware)

Location: Oslo, Norway; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Design and build mechanical test setups, fixtures, rigs, and prototypes.
• Instrument and automate test rigs with sensors, data acquisition, logging, and unattended test cycles.
• Plan and execute design verification, life, durability, environmental, transport, drop, and misuse testing.
• Analyze and report results with actionable conclusions and recommendations.
• Investigate failures from testing, production, and field use and establish root causes with design engineering.
• Connect FMEA failure modes to test coverage and risk controls while supporting suppliers and manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with CAD fixture and rig design, prototyping, machining, 3D printing, or workshop work.
• Interest in or experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, test automation, and data analysis scripting such as Python.
• Understanding of mechanical testing principles, durability testing, environmental conditions, and basic test statistics.
• Curious, methodical, data-rigorous approach and willingness to work hands-on with hardware.

Nice to have

• Experience with FMEA.
• Familiarity with product development in a regulated environment.
