Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Go)

Location: Onsite at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia office

What you will do

• Oversee the end-to-end recommendation pipeline, including candidate generation, pre-ranking, and ranking.
• Design and develop Go services to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
• Own backend product features from requirements through implementation in collaboration with product and design.
• Partner with Data Science on machine learning infrastructure and feature engineering pipelines.
• Participate in technical, code, and design reviews while mentoring engineers and sharing knowledge.
• Handle capacity planning, performance optimization, on-call support, and production troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience in distributed systems.
• Experience shipping backend services to production, with knowledge of system performance and scaling.
• Hands-on experience with recommendation systems, including design, optimization, model architectures, and feature engineering.
• Working knowledge of machine learning, cloud technologies, and cloud service deployment.
• Strong algorithms, data structures, investigative, and system bottleneck analysis skills.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Golang and Python.
• Experience optimizing large-scale machine learning serving infrastructure.
