Senior Software Engineer - AIT (Space Systems)

Location: Hybrid work from hirify.global offices in Manchester, Stevenage, or Harwell, United Kingdom. Willingness to travel to other MDA and partner locations is required.

What you will do

• Design and develop on-board software and ground test software for space payloads.
• Derive software designs from requirements and contribute to requirements, architecture, design, and test documentation.
• Identify root causes, develop test cases, and implement robust solutions.
• Estimate resources and plan end-to-end delivery of product-level software for internal and external customers.
• Document APIs and code and present technical information to software and validation teams.
• Travel to MDA and partner locations to support project delivery when required.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing quality software using C/C++ on Linux.
• Experience with formal development, testing, integration, and documentation processes.
• Experience with industry tools such as Git and Jenkins.
• Strong analytical, documentation, presentation, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to identify and quantify problems, develop new principles and concepts, and deliver work to schedule.
• Right-to-work, identity, criminal-record, employment-history, and reference checks are required as part of BPSS screening.

Nice to have

• Experience designing high-availability or secure software systems.
• Knowledge of wireless telecommunications, Linux kernels, device drivers, electronics hardware, or phased-array systems.
• Python development and experience with numerical libraries such as NumPy and Matplotlib.
• Experience operating or automating radio-frequency test equipment.
• Experience introducing modern software technologies, tools, and methodologies.
