Platform Engineer (Azure/AWS)

Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid working arrangements may be considered. The role is based at the Oxford Road site.

Salary: £38,448–£46,970 per annum, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain delivery infrastructure, systems, and processes supporting technology transformation.
• Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code libraries and self-service cloud infrastructure.
• Lead the adoption of modern cloud platforms and ways of working across multidisciplinary teams.
• Deliver DevOps CI/CD, automation, and cloud infrastructure with developers, architects, UX designers, analysts, and Scrum Masters.
• Support research colleagues with AI/ML implementations and accelerate the transition from ideation to active research.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Oracle OCI, Azure, or AWS, with deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform.
• Experience automating Infrastructure as Code delivery with Terraform.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and code repository management using tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Golang.
• Understanding of architecture design and documentation, plus security compliance frameworks including PCI DSS, ISO, Cyber Essentials, or NIST.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience building automation or integrations with ServiceNow.
• Stakeholder management and collaborative work with wider teams.
