Senior Software Engineer (Embedded Controls)

Location: Milford, Michigan, United States. Hybrid work policy: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

• Define, design, and develop propulsion thermal control systems, diagnostics, and controller communications.
• Develop software and controls for integrated thermal loops to optimize energy use and thermal storage capacity.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for the Scrum team and collaborate with program management and system architecture stakeholders.
• Refine and prioritize team backlogs, translate product strategy into user stories, and support planning and estimation.
• Define acceptance criteria and guide unit, integration, system, behavior-driven, and test-driven development strategies.
• Validate features, acceptance tests, and technical quality through demonstrations, retrospectives, and end-user acceptance activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering field, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop integration and regression testing for Electronic Control Units.
• Experience testing embedded ECUs on machines and test benches using dSPACE HIL, Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe, and CAT ET.
• Experience creating automated machine-level test scripts using C and Python.
• Experience creating CANalyzer databases for parsing software CAN communication data.
• Experience designing and developing machine plant, I/O, and CAN simulation models using MATLAB and Simulink.
