Backend Software Engineer (AWS)

Location: Gdańsk, Poland; hybrid work with one day per week from the Gdańsk office

Salary: 950–1,100 PLN per day, net + VAT, B2B

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs on AWS.
• Build serverless and event-driven features using Lambda, SQS, and EventBridge.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with product owners, frontend developers, and architects to deliver features end to end.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Python or Scala.
• 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases, including data modelling and query optimisation.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, writing unit and integration tests, reviewing code, and using Git.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly CloudFormation.
• Good written and spoken English and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Scala experience, or a Kotlin or Java background.
• Experience with CloudWatch, X-Ray, or similar observability tools.
• Understanding of IT products and the container shipping business.
