Senior Technical Accountant (Fintech)

Location: London, UK; hybrid attendance at the London office 2–3 days per week. Working from abroad is available for up to 120 days per year, subject to having the right to work in the country of choice.

What you will do

• Assess the accounting treatment for new transactions, products, significant contracts, and business initiatives, and prepare accounting papers and memos.
• Support ownership, drafting, and coordination of the annual report and accounts.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and the accounting manual.
• Help implement new accounting treatments across finance systems, processes, and business-as-usual operations.
• Support balance sheet accounting, including SPPI testing and hedge accounting assessments under IFRS 9 and IAS 39.
• Work with Product, Legal, Treasury, Risk, and external auditors on technical accounting matters.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, or equivalent certification and relevant post-qualification experience.
• Experience in financial services, banking, consumer finance, or technical accounting at a top-six accountancy firm.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and its application to financial services products and transactions.
• Experience drafting technical accounting papers or memos and explaining complex accounting topics to non-accountants.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, investigate accounting and reporting issues, and build trusted stakeholder relationships.
• Curiosity about using AI and automation in everyday accounting and reporting work.

Nice to have

• Technical knowledge of IFRS 9, including expected credit losses and effective interest rate calculations.
• Knowledge of hedge accounting under IFRS 9 and IAS 39, IFRS 2, or IAS 38.
• Experience in operational accounting.
