Principal Software Engineer – Platform Owner (Hands-on)

Company

Builds and operates a shipped social humanoid robotics platform combining hardware, realtime systems, SDKs, cloud services, AI, and developer tools for universities, research labs, hospitals, and innovation teams.

What you will do

• Own the robot platform built with Java and the Kotlin/Python SDK.
• Develop and maintain internal React tools, APIs, backend services, and cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Build, operate, and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Clean up legacy systems, simplify architecture, and turn the roadmap into shipped features.
• Guide and mentor two junior consultants while working directly with the CEO, CSO, and product manager.
• Stay 80–90% hands-on with coding, building, debugging, and automation.

Requirements

• Principal-level or equivalent experience owning complex software platforms end to end.
• Strong backend and platform engineering experience; robotics experience is not required.
• Hands-on experience with reliable systems, architecture simplification, automation, and cloud or DevOps practices.
• Ability to work independently in a small team and take full responsibility for engineering outcomes.
• Experience mentoring engineers or consultants and communicating clearly with technical and product stakeholders.
• On-site work in Stockholm, Sweden is required.

Nice to have

• Experience as a founding engineer, principal engineer, or startup CTO.
• Interest or experience in AI, robotics, realtime systems, SDKs, or AI/LLM integrations.
• Experience with C++ for computer vision or audio systems.
