Junior Software Engineer

Location: Fully remote; applicants from all geographies are welcome.

What you will do

• Contribute to databases, distributed systems, infrastructure, tooling, and data analysis.
• Develop backend and frontend web applications, APIs, and data models.
• Work on data mining and machine learning projects.
• Build and improve systems that process large-scale web crawl and mobile application data.
• Deploy code to production frequently using an automated development and deployment environment.

Requirements

• 0–3 years of professional software experience.
• At least 5 years of curiosity-driven exploration of computers, programming, or technical hobby projects.
• Strong interest in programming, computers, big data, databases, compilers, hardware, mathematics, data science, or the internet.
• Familiarity with Python, PostgreSQL, Linux, and Git.
• Graduation is preferred, but candidates with one or more years remaining in school may also apply.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, Python, Rust, Linux, TypeScript, Nix, frontend or backend web development, or data mining.
• Personal programming projects, niche technical research, or other distinctive computing experience.
