Senior Backend Engineer (Data/Scala)

What you will do

• Develop end-to-end client-facing and data infrastructure features, from data processing through database selection and modeling.
• Build analytics capabilities using complex aggregation, analytical databases, APIs, dashboards, and external integrations.
• Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to deliver complex products.
• Analyze and improve the performance, scalability, and stability of systems, environments, and tools.
• Optionally contribute to meetups, conferences, blog posts, and open-source projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Data engineering experience focused on Apache Spark with Scala or PySpark.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale production databases, Airflow, BigQuery ETL, and production-grade databases.
• Experience with production-grade Go or Clojure backend services.
• Strong server-side development skills.
• An AI mindset and experience exploring productivity tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot.
