Senior Mechanical Engineer (Transformers)

Location: Jinan, Shandong Province, China; hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical designs for transformers based on order requirements, electrical calculations, risk assessments, and global design standards.
• Design and optimize transformer components and assemblies, including cores, windings, leads, tanks, final assemblies, and secondary systems.
• Participate in customer and internal design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and Chinese and international standards.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities, apply new technologies, and support product innovation initiatives.
• Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle and collaborate with manufacturing on fabrication, assembly, and delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in transformer mechanical design, including hands-on transformer structural design; transformer experience is mandatory.
• Experience designing transformer layouts, cores, windings, winding assemblies, leads, tanks, final assemblies, and secondary systems such as diagrams and control cabinets.
• Experience preparing customer-facing engineering documentation, preliminary outline drawings, and technical design packages.
• Strong collaboration skills with customers, engineering specialists, and manufacturing teams.
• Fluent English and Mandarin communication skills are required.
