Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Golang)

Location: Onsite in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs for registration, authentication, and authorization across mobile, web, voice, and partner applications.
• Build distributed systems supporting 100K+ requests per second and four-nines availability.
• Lead features through requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, and production deployment.
• Establish coding standards, conduct architecture reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with product, design, business, and QA teams.
• Improve observability, monitoring, performance, deployment stability, and service reliability.
• Lead on-call incident response and address technical debt through targeted engineering improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with distributed systems and backend services.
• Production ownership of backend applications or services and experience maintaining live systems.
• Strong Golang skills, including concurrency and optimization, or equivalent expertise with a willingness to master Golang.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, system design, relational databases, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS or GCP, Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, CI/CD, automated testing, Agile development, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Ability to use AI tools and coding agents to improve productivity and code quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with microservices, API design patterns, Docker, Kubernetes, caching, and message queuing.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, contributing to open-source projects, or participating in technical communities.
