TL;DR
Specialist, Control Systems Analysis Engineer (Systems Engineer) (Aerospace/GNC): Developing control algorithms, dynamic models, and simulations for controllable solid rocket motor throttling and propulsion systems with an accent on aerospace control theory, GNC, propulsion dynamics, and MATLAB/Simulink analysis. Focus on designing and evaluating control systems, integrating propulsion and vehicle models, supporting ground and system testing, and presenting technical results for aerospace defense programs.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; onsite position with approximately 10% travel for offsite testing.

Company

hirify.global develops end-to-end defense technology solutions across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains for national security missions.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, and evaluate control algorithms for solid rocket motor throttling and related actuation systems.
  • Model and analyze propulsion system dynamics, including steady-state and transient performance.
  • Develop dynamic models and simulations for aerospace control and controllable propulsion systems using MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
  • Support system, subsystem, and component-level requirements development.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, avionics, software, systems, and test engineering teams on integrated system development.
  • Support ground and system testing and present technical work products during reviews, customer briefings, and program milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant technical experience, or a graduate degree with at least 6 years of experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in controls, guidance/navigation/control, propulsion analysis, simulation, or related aerospace systems work.
  • Experience with control theory, dynamic system modeling, flight or vehicle dynamics, actuation systems, or propulsion system analysis.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and a programming language such as C, C++, or Python.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Ability to support testing, technical reviews, and approximately 10% offsite travel.

Nice to have

  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance and experience working in a classified environment.
  • Experience with aerospace controls, missile or munition control systems, flight simulation, or vehicle performance analysis.
  • Experience with high-fidelity simulation, time-domain analysis, 6-DoF or reduced-order simulations, and actuator models.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, embedded or real-time control software, test planning, or post-test data analysis.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time schedule with a 9/80 arrangement: nine workdays over 14 days and every other Friday off.
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration across propulsion, avionics, software, systems, and test engineering.
  • Domain-specific training in controllable solid propulsion systems.
  • Work on technically challenging aerospace and defense control problems supporting current and future development programs.
  • Inclusive work environment focused on professional growth, communities, mission success, and technical excellence.
