Senior/Staff Controls Engineer, Core Development (Autonomous Driving)

What you will do

• Develop robust, reliable, and optimized production control software following ISO 26262 safety standards.
• Design interactions between the planner and controller and develop advanced control strategies for operational domains ranging from parking lots to highways.
• Support autonomous driving across different weather conditions and road surfaces.
• Integrate the controls stack with new vehicle platforms.
• Explore machine learning for vehicle dynamics and controls to improve vehicle performance, drivability, and vehicle-platform bring-up time.
• Collaborate with hardware, base software, upstream autonomy, vehicle testing, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years developing and deploying L2+ or higher automated-driving controls software at scale.
• MS or Ph.D. preferred in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or a related field.
• Deep knowledge of vehicle dynamics, control theory, control-strategy development, and testing.
• Experience implementing classical or modern control methods and/or machine learning for controls.
• Strong embedded C or C++ programming skills, with C preferred.
• Strong foundations in geometry, calculus, probability, physics, kinematics, dynamics, and analytical problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with GenAI-assisted engineering workflows such as Claude Code, Gemini, or Cursor.
• Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or robotics discipline.
