Lead Project Engineer (Avionics)

What you will do

• Own aerospace project outcomes across scope, schedule, cost, technical performance, quality, certification, and delivery.
• Lead cross-functional engineers, designers, test, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing partners without necessarily managing them directly.
• Drive requirements definition, systems design reviews, technical trade decisions, and compliance with aerospace standards and regulations.
• Build and maintain integrated schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk registers, configuration control, and certification deliverables.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for test failures, nonconformances, and field issues.
• Act as the technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and regulators while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 9+ years of engineering experience in aerospace or defense, including 4+ years leading cross-functional project teams.
• Experience with aerospace product lifecycle activities, including requirements, design reviews, qualification testing, and certification.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, and FAA/EASA certification processes.
• Strong scheduling, risk management, structured problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with export-controlled data; U.S. person status may be required under ITAR/EAR.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or an MBA.
• PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with avionics, flight safety, air traffic systems, earned value management, MS Project, Jira, or a PLM system.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience.
• Customer-facing technical leadership experience on commercial or government programs.
