Staff Software Engineer, Machine Learning

Location: Hybrid, with in-office time expected in San Francisco, New York City, Sunnyvale, or Seattle

Salary: $203,500–$299,300 USD base pay, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Develop advanced machine learning models to improve advertising efficiency and quality.
• Design optimization algorithms for budget pacing and automated bidding.
• Build data-driven frameworks to analyze bid density, market competitiveness, advertising value, and platform revenue.
• Develop embeddings, consumer profiles, and other data solutions for audience targeting.
• Own the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including ideation, offline training, online shadowing, deployment, experimentation, and post-launch monitoring.
• Extend data and ML infrastructure and scale systems supporting Ads applications and business growth.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience in machine learning.
• M.S. or PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, or an equivalent technical field.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and fundamentals.
• Experience building production ML systems with PyTorch, Keras, LightGBM, scikit-learn, Spark ML, or related frameworks.
• Experience building large-scale data and feature engineering pipelines with PySpark and Snowflake SQL.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor across the software development lifecycle.
