Staff Engineer (Vibration Testing) (Automotive)

Location: Wyoming, Minnesota, USA; onsite laboratory role with up to 10% business travel.

Salary: $109,000–$144,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead electro-dynamic shaker and multi-axial simulation table durability testing for vehicles, components, and subsystem assemblies.
• Develop vibration validation plans, laboratory test profiles, and accelerated durability methods from customer usage and field data.
• Plan instrumentation and collect data using accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, and displacement transducers.
• Design, develop, fabricate, and implement test fixtures for vibration and durability validation.
• Analyze frequency-domain data, develop power spectral density profiles, correlate laboratory results with field performance, and investigate failures.
• Prioritize testing, collaborate with design, CAE, manufacturing, and quality teams, and mentor technicians while improving laboratory methods and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in durability, vibration, test, or validation engineering.
• Experience with vibration testing, durability validation, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, signal processing, and fatigue analysis.
• Strong knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration theory, fatigue principles, test-method development, and field-to-lab correlation.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, push or pull up to 100 pounds, and perform bending, kneeling, reaching, gripping, and related laboratory activities.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with electro-dynamic shaker and multi-axial simulation table testing.
• Experience with RPC Connect, nCode GlyphWorks, Vibration Research, LMS Test.Lab, MATLAB, or similar software.
• Background in vehicle, powersports, automotive, agricultural, or heavy-equipment product development.
• Experience leading laboratory operations, mentoring technicians, developing test fixtures, or establishing validation methodologies.
