Telecom and Patent Consultant (Telecom)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working with at least 2 days per week in the office or on a client site, and potentially up to 5 days per week on a client site.

What you will do

• Evaluate patents and their applicability to telecommunications standards, including 3GPP specifications.
• Scope and prepare patent transparency reports across telecommunications domains.
• Conduct patent landscape analyses and identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Review intellectual property portfolios and identify commercialisation and optimisation opportunities.
• Record strategic intellectual property assets and develop valuation and protection strategies.
• Provide technical litigation support alongside external legal specialists.

Requirements

• Familiarity with telecommunications technologies and 3GPP Technical Specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to synthesise, visualise, and present complex data.
• Familiarity with Python for data analysis.
• Experience with, or willingness to learn, patent analysis and essentiality checks.
• Customer focus and confident professional communication skills.
• For roles requiring UK security clearance, applicants must be British citizens or have at least 5 years of continuous UK residency.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with patent analytics platforms such as PatBase, Patsnap, or Cipher.
• Understanding of the finances behind technology development and commercialisation.
• Knowledge of international patent laws and mechanisms.
