Full-Time Profee Cardiology Medical Coder (Remote)

What you will do

• Review outpatient, physician, and emergency room medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
• Code clinic evaluation and management services, EKGs, echocardiograms, remote monitoring, and other cardiology accounts.
• Abstract relevant information and request physician clarification for ambiguous or conflicting documentation.
• Support claim edits and maintain knowledge of official coding guidelines, Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant.
• Provide education and mentorship to training coders and new hires when needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of professional-fee cardiac coding experience required.
• Experience coding EKGs and other clinic accounts required.
• One of the following credentials required: CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles, reimbursement systems, and applicable federal, state, and payer regulations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; successful completion of a coding proficiency test required.

Nice to have

• Epic or 3M 360 experience.
• Additional credentials including CCA, CCS, COC, RHIA, or RHIT.
