Associate Data Scientist

Location: London, United Kingdom; applications are welcomed from candidates based anywhere in the world. Roles located in the UK, Belgium, Spain, or Germany require the right to work or eligibility for visa sponsorship and physical presence in the relevant country by the first day, or relocation beforehand. Hybrid working is available.

What you will do

• Work with data scientists and subject matter experts to define project questions, data needs, and suitable outputs.
• Clean, combine, explore, and document datasets using Python.
• Build and compare statistical and machine learning models, including baselines, and evaluate accuracy, limitations, and potential bias.
• Develop and test prototypes, including language-model applications where appropriate.
• Prepare charts, written findings, and presentation materials for colleagues, clients, and subject matter experts.
• Improve code through feedback and review while contributing to reproducible project files and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Hands-on data science experience from a project, research, internship, or commercial role.
• Experience using Python and applying statistics, regression, classification, model training, testing, and evaluation.
• Careful approach to data quality, documentation, reproducible code, and collaborative development.
• Ability to explain technical thinking clearly in written and spoken English.
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative or social science field.
• For roles based in the UK, Belgium, Spain, or Germany, the right to work or eligibility for case-by-case visa sponsorship is required, together with physical presence in the relevant country by the start date.

Nice to have

• Experience in public policy, government, research, or evaluation.
• Hands-on exploration of large language models, including checking responses against source material.
• Experience with AI agents, Git, cloud services, data visualisation, collaborative projects, or presenting technical work to nontechnical audiences.
