TL;DR
Backend Engineer (Java/Spring Boot): Developing and optimizing high-performance backend applications with an accent on scalability, reliability, security, and modular architecture. Focus on designing microservices and database features, improving CI/CD deployment processes, and solving backend performance and security challenges.

Location: Remote in Italy

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable Spring Boot applications.
  • Write clean, modular, testable Java code for microservices and REST APIs.
  • Design and implement features using MySQL and MongoDB.
  • Apply Layered Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and Event-Driven Design principles.
  • Troubleshoot backend performance and security issues.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD automation and deployment processes.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with Java and Spring Boot, including microservices and REST APIs.
  • Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with software architecture patterns, TDD, and Spring Boot testing practices.
  • Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, and messaging systems such as ActiveMQ or Kafka.
  • Good written and spoken English is required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical problems and solutions to different stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience with gRPC, GraphQL, or modern REST API communication.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with AWS, especially EC2 and S3.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of backend security best practices and ISO 27001:2022 Annex A 8.28.
