Research Associate - Oil Refineries and Petrochemicals

Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom; hybrid working with physical presence in the office at least 2 days per week

What you will do

• Monitor oil refineries and petrochemical facilities across the US, Europe, and Asia using real-time infrared imagery.
• Train machine learning models to improve predictions of whether assets are operational.
• Query large high-frequency datasets to generate insights and respond to client questions.
• Support improvements to internal research processes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to connect data and insights into an integrated view of short-term markets.

Requirements

• Background as an engineer or economist, with relevant experience, skills, or knowledge applicable to the role.
• Keen interest in commodity market dynamics and the impact of these markets on the natural resources industry.
• Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and experience collecting, interpreting, and clearly communicating data and findings.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, inquisitive, flexible, proactive, and growth-oriented skills.
• Ability to maintain performance through change and demonstrate innovation in the AI space.
