Staff Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote or hybrid, with a hub in Warsaw, Poland

What you will do

• Own the target architecture for the Marketplace across search, listings, doctor profiles, and booking.
• Shape the migration from a long-lived PHP monolith to a vertical-slice monorepo using strangler routing, anti-corruption layers, shadow traffic, and staged source-of-truth changes.
• Turn Marketplace capabilities such as bookings, profiles, and search into reusable, versioned contracts for other hirify.global products and AI agents.
• Personally prototype and ship production changes by directing AI coding agents, while owning design, code review, correctness, and security.
• Drive AI-assisted workflows for legacy-code analysis, contract generation, adapters, tests, and parity between old and new systems.
• Partner with Engineering Managers and Product Managers, mentor senior engineers, and contribute to the Staff+ engineering community.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical direction across several engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience decomposing large legacy systems while they continue serving production traffic, including strangler patterns, anti-corruption layers, data migration, and dual-write risks.
• Strong distributed-systems and backend-architecture experience in a polyglot environment.
• Practical experience using AI to accelerate software development, with the judgment to control design, correctness, and security.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with two-sided marketplaces, search and discovery, or booking and scheduling systems.
• Experience operating monorepos at scale, including build tooling, code ownership, and shared platform conventions.
• Experience exposing product capabilities to AI agents.
• Experience in healthcare or another regulated domain where privacy and security shape architecture.
