TL;DR
Fluid Systems Engineering (Aerospace): Designing, manufacturing, integrating, and testing fluid system hardware for space stations and spacecraft with an accent on ECLSS, thermal control, propulsion feed systems, and pressurized hardware. Focus on performing first-principles analyses, solving leak and reliability issues, leading hardware integration, and supporting qualification testing through flight.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time onsite at the Long Beach office

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space stations, spacecraft, satellite systems, and future habitats for the Moon and Mars.

What you will do

  • Own the design, development, and delivery of fluid system hardware from concept through flight across ECLSS, thermal control, and propulsion programs.
  • Perform fluid analyses, trade studies, and systems engineering using first principles.
  • Design pressurized hardware including tanks, valves, regulators, pumps, heat exchangers, tubing, and fittings.
  • Build, assemble, integrate, and test fluid hardware on the shop floor with technicians.
  • Support pressure decay, helium leak, burst, functional, and thermal-vacuum testing.
  • Lead nonconformance investigations, corrective actions, subsystem integration, and design reviews with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil, electrical, or materials engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with fluid, pressurized, propulsion, or environmental control hardware in design, manufacturing, or testing.
  • Hands-on fabrication, assembly, integration, and/or testing experience.
  • CAD proficiency; NX is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and communication skills.
  • The successful candidate must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for U.S. deemed export licensing under applicable export control regulations.

Nice to have

  • Ownership of flight or high-reliability fluid hardware from design through testing.
  • Experience with fittings, brazed and welded joints, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, pressurized gas systems, or electric propulsion feed systems.
  • Knowledge of pressure drop, flow, sealing, leak paths, cleanliness control, oxygen-clean hardware, and precision-clean hardware.
  • GD&T and tolerance stack-up experience, plus structural analysis with FEMAP, Nastran, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with NX, Teamcenter, PLM, MES, and first-article builds in aerospace or commercial space environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on, high-ownership work with technicians, manufacturing engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required to support critical mission milestones.
  • Full-time employees receive company equity, medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, parental leave, disability insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401(k) plan.
  • Additional benefits include ClassPass credits, personalized mental healthcare, subsidized meals, snacks, drinks, and onsite barista service.
