Senior Software Security Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; Remote within the USA. Hybrid work format.

Salary: $215K–$230K per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Partner with engineering teams to identify major risks before release and build secure frameworks and libraries.
• Develop identity and secrets management systems, including credential issuance, rotation, and workload authentication.
• Strengthen cloud security through infrastructure-as-code scanning, misconfiguration detection, and automated remediation.
• Design security models and permission boundaries for AI agents performing audit work.
• Protect agentic systems against prompt injection and enforce tenant isolation.
• Lead security design reviews and coach engineering teams on secure development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and maintaining security-relevant production systems.
• Experience leading a security initiative from design through adoption.
• Hands-on experience with identity and secrets management, including OAuth 2.0 and OIDC.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes security primitives, including RBAC, namespaces, network policies, and admission controllers.
• Ability to reason about trust boundaries and threat models and prioritize risk.
• Ability to work across broad, ambiguous, and evolving security priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAST, dependency scanning, or secure build infrastructure.
• Experience with SAML, SPIFFE/SPIRE, or workload authentication systems.
• Experience securing LLM-based or agentic systems.
