Sr Forward Deployed Engineer, AWS Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

Location: London, United Kingdom; requires 30–50% travel for customer engagements.

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy and delivery across complex, multi-workstream customer AI programs.
• Design and build production-scale AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, enterprise retrieval systems, and decision intelligence platforms.
• Define evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, observability standards, incident response playbooks, and production-readiness criteria.
• Create reusable engineering patterns, accelerators, and platforms that reduce customer time-to-value.
• Mentor junior Forward Deployed Engineers and contribute to hiring and engineering excellence.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption and feed customer learnings back into AWS services and the FDE practice.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development and programming experience.
• 5+ years leading the design or architecture of reliable, scalable systems.
• Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or engineering team leader.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale.
• Experience with AI evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AWS Services and enterprise-scale AI/ML applications.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Experience leading customer-facing technical projects or managing external stakeholders.
• Background as a founder, engineering lead, startup builder, or experience in an Agile or rapidly scaling environment.
