Digital Librarian / Metadata Lead (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; availability for meetings during Pacific and Eastern business hours is required.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and clearance level.

What you will do

• Lead the transfer and intake of scientific literature records, including deduplication, file naming, and version control.
• Develop and apply metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and indexing conventions for biological and fisheries research.
• Build and maintain a screened literature database and reference library using tools such as Zotero.
• Configure, test, and quality-check AI-assisted intake and screening tools, escalating edge cases for expert review.
• Prepare records and metadata for final library file packages and coordinate with the document production team.
• Document workflows and quality-control procedures while supporting status reporting and classification decisions.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States for this fully remote role.
• Experience organizing scientific, technical, or federal research literature.
• Experience developing metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, indexing conventions, and searchable research libraries.
• Ability to configure and evaluate AI-assisted documentation, research, or content workflows.
• Availability for meetings during Pacific and Eastern business hours.
• Ability to coordinate with fisheries experts and identify records requiring specialist review.
