Discovery Technical Operations Specialist (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Hybrid policy: staff must work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time.

Annual salary: $170,000–$220,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build and operate discovery processes across the full EDRM lifecycle, including preservation, collection, processing, hosting, review, and production of electronically stored information.
• Operate and improve the legal hold program, including custodian identification, hold issuance, tracking, acknowledgments, re-notification, and defensible release.
• Administer and improve the discovery technology stack, including RelativityOne, Slack, Google Workspace, internal systems, analytics, review platforms, access controls, templates, and reusable workspaces.
• Coordinate active litigation, government investigations, and regulatory inquiries with counsel, vendors, discovery leads, Security, IT, engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Develop information governance practices covering retention schedules, data classification, defensible disposition, data inventories, and governed paths for new data sources.
• Build internal tools, dashboards, AI-assisted review workflows, custom Relativity applications, and agentic automation for discovery operations.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience across the full EDRM lifecycle and ownership of complex discovery operations.
• Working knowledge of major discovery platforms, including RelativityOne administration, search, analytics, AI/TAR workflows, and custom application development.
• Strong understanding of Federal Rules governing discovery and evidence, ESI preservation obligations, and proportionality.
• Experience with Slack, Google Workspace, mobile, engineering systems, and other modern enterprise data sources.
• Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage concurrent matters and explain technical concepts to legal, executive, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience.

Nice to have

• 6+ years of hands-on discovery experience across the full EDRM lifecycle.
• Experience building discovery operations at a young or fast-scaling company and embedding with engineering or product teams.
• Experience integrating generative AI, agentic workflows, cloud infrastructure, APIs, data pipelines, version control, and small scripts into operational work.
• Experience operating information governance programs at scale across heterogeneous enterprise data sources.
