Senior Mainframe Developer (COBOL/Unisys)

Location: Hybrid in Tacoma, Washington, United States. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary: $115,000–$145,000 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze, document, remediate, and enhance legacy Unisys COBOL applications, batch processes, databases, interfaces, and data flows.
• Design inbound and outbound integrations between legacy applications and Workday HCM, Payroll, Finance, and related enterprise services.
• Map legacy master and transactional data to Workday objects and develop extraction, transformation, validation, migration, and reconciliation processes.
• Recommend modernization approaches, reduce technical debt, and document system architecture, interfaces, and operational procedures.
• Develop and execute unit, system, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing while meeting security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Support production deployments, troubleshoot integration and batch-processing failures, participate in critical-period on-call support, and monitor system performance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of COBOL development experience and 7+ years supporting enterprise mainframe environments.
• 5+ years working with Unisys mainframe platforms and experience maintaining highly customized legacy applications over multiple decades.
• Experience with COBOL-74, COBOL-85, or Enterprise COBOL; DMSII databases; batch processing; and JCL or equivalent job scheduling frameworks.
• Experience with REST APIs, SOAP web services, ETL, data mapping and transformation, middleware, message queues, secure file transfer, relational databases, and SQL.
• Experience with Workday HCM, Payroll, Financials, Studio, Web Services, EIB, or related Workday integration frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, mentoring experience, strong stakeholder communication skills, and legal authorization to work in the United States.
