Junior Software Engineer Intern (AI/ML)

Location: Onsite in Fairfax, Virginia, United States; summer 2027 internship

What you will do

• Develop software solutions with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical teams.
• Help move AI/ML models from research environments to the tactical edge.
• Design and integrate enterprise-scale systems using GOTS, COTS, and open-source components.
• Support big data and cloud solution projects.
• Deploy capabilities to operational end users in an agile environment.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems, including Red Hat or Ubuntu.
• Strong collaboration, technical writing, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment and quickly implement new technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of deep learning algorithms, NLP, and machine learning tools and packages.
• Experience creating architecture and data flow diagrams with tools such as Visio.
• Experience with big data and cloud technologies.
• Experience working with Department of Defense organizations or contractors.
