Sr. Splunk Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote from Virginia, United States; occasional domestic or international on-site engagements may be required.

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud environments, including indexers, search heads, forwarders, and management components.
• Lead customer-facing Splunk implementations for observability, security monitoring, compliance, and operational intelligence.
• Develop data onboarding and ingestion pipelines, SPL searches, dashboards, alerts, correlation searches, and customer-aligned use cases.
• Build scripts, integrations, and automation with Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD practices.
• Deploy and operate Splunk across on-premises, AWS, Azure, GCP, GovCloud, and hybrid environments.
• Provide architecture guidance, troubleshoot platform performance, integrate enterprise security tooling, and create technical documentation.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on expertise with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud, including SPL, data onboarding, indexer/search head architecture, and performance tuning.
• Experience with SIEM, observability, logging, metrics, distributed systems, and production-scale Splunk environments.
• Strong scripting, automation, Linux/Unix, networking, and cloud platform experience.
• Experience in customer-facing or professional services environments and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• U.S. Passport required.
• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security, SOAR, advanced SIEM use cases, Elastic Stack, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Professional Services, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering background.
• Relevant Splunk, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Ansible certifications.
• Experience with adjacent platforms such as OpenSearch, Graylog, Datadog, Solr, or Lucene.
