Senior Embedded Software / Edge AI Engineer (Edge AI)

Location: Remote work allowed 100%; position associated with Chantilly, Virginia, United States. A U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance is required and must be maintained.

Salary: $101,657.48–$200,020.88 per year

What you will do

• Architect modular C++ infrastructure, APIs, middleware, plugins, and hardware abstraction layers for VITA 90/VNX+ systems.
• Develop embedded C/C++ software for Embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal environments, including device trees, boot sequences, interrupts, DMA, and board-support software.
• Integrate processors, FPGAs, RF devices, sensors, PNT components, and custom electronics through PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and related interfaces.
• Build low-copy and zero-copy data paths for I/Q, imagery, telemetry, navigation, and sensor data, including chassis management and fault-response capabilities.
• Deploy ML models and inference runtimes in real-time C/C++ applications on constrained CPU/GPU platforms and develop preprocessing and IPC pipelines.
• Support hardware bring-up, HIL and system integration, automated testing, reproducible builds, releases, and CI/CD environments.

Requirements

• Production experience with C/C++ for embedded, real-time, or mission-critical systems, primarily in Embedded Linux.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, device integration, board-support software, device trees, bootloaders, interrupts, DMA, and low-level hardware interfaces.
• Experience designing modular C++ interfaces, HALs, plugins, middleware, or hardware-independent architectures.
• Experience integrating ML models or inference runtimes into embedded or edge environments; Python proficiency for automation and testing.
• Experience with automated testing, HIL testing, system integration, and complex multi-vendor systems.
• Must possess and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, TensorFlow Lite, OpenVINO, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of SOSA, MOSA, MORA, VITA 90/VNX+, VITA 49/VRT, VPX, VICTORY, pntOS, chassis management, RF/EW/NAVWAR, or sensor-fusion applications.
• RTOS or bare-metal experience.
