Electronic Systems Verification and Validation Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite Monday–Friday. Required travel is less than 10% domestically and internationally. Domestic relocation assistance is available. US work sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 per year.

What you will do

• Define testing priorities and coverage with testing leads, machine system coordinators, system engineers, and electronic system design engineers.
• Develop test plans, execute system integration testing, perform regression and delta-content testing, and troubleshoot software features.
• Document test processes and results, analyze software defect-tracking reports, and support compliance with functional safety and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Develop product-testing procedures and help select next-generation test environments, tools, and bench capabilities.
• Develop automated test scripts for HiL and SiL environments.

Requirements

• Degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited program.
• Excellent working knowledge of dSPACE hardware and software, including VEOS, ControlDesk, and Automation Desk, with the ability to operate the dSPACE XiL environment independently.
• Excellent working knowledge of product-testing approaches, techniques, and tools, including the ability to design, plan, and execute testing for L6 machine-level software integration.
• Experience performing software regression and delta-content testing, documenting results, and preparing and analyzing software defect-tracking reports.
• Strong working knowledge of data-analysis techniques and tools for reviewing test data, explaining discrepancies, identifying bench or software-defect causes, and breaking down complex problems.
• Ability to develop and use checklists to ensure test scripts and results are error-free and apply lessons learned.
• Collaborative communication skills, including conveying and interpreting ideas, information, and requirements across diverse teams; presenting and reviewing test results; reviewing writing and presentations; and applying feedback.

Nice to have

• Experience assembling and modifying test benches, including wiring and harnessing.
• Experience designing, developing, or testing embedded systems.
• Strong experience with dSPACE test equipment, Automation Desk, Opal test equipment, SiL, and GoogleTest.
• Software development experience with C, C++, or Simulink.
• Strong Python scripting experience and regular use of Git configuration management.
• Systems and requirements experience in the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong attention to detail throughout the testing cycle.
