TL;DR
Robotics Engineer I (Robotics): Building simulation environments, learned manipulation policies, and hardware integrations for new robotic products with an accent on robot learning, teleoperation data, and sim-to-real experimentation. Focus on developing ROS 2 software, operating robotic hardware, and running system-level trade studies across mobility, power, thermal, compute, and communications.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, Washington, United States of America; onsite robotics laboratory work

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $110,623.00–$154,871.85 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

Company

hirify.global develops reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems to support future human activity in space.

What you will do

  • Develop, train, fine-tune, and evaluate robot manipulation policies for multi-step tasks, including imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and vision-language-action models.
  • Collect teleoperation demonstrations and build data pipelines for policy training and benchmarking.
  • Build simulation environments in NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and Isaac Lab, including terrain, lighting, and physical conditions, while closing the sim-to-real gap.
  • Integrate, bring up, and operate robot arms, dexterous hands, grippers, cameras, force/torque sensors, and commercial platforms.
  • Develop and maintain ROS 2 control interfaces, perception pipelines, and robot safety limits.
  • Run analyses, simulations, and prototype tests supporting trade studies across mobility, power, thermal, compute, and communications, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with real robot hardware and at least one robotics simulation environment.
  • Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of C++.
  • Understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, and control fundamentals.
  • Ability to assemble hardware, wire and debug sensors, and safely operate robots in a laboratory.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident with a current Green Card, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice to have

  • M.S. degree or equivalent research experience.
  • Experience with PyTorch or JAX, learned robot policies, ROS 2, NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, or Isaac Lab.
  • Experience with industrial or collaborative robot arms, physics-based terrain or contact modeling, and computer vision for manipulation.
  • Experience with teleoperation systems, robot-learning data collection, or hardware for harsh environments.
  • Experience working across software, simulation, and hardware.

Culture & Benefits

  • Safety, collaboration, inclusion, trust, equality, and teamwork are emphasized.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave, and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) with company matching of up to 5% and an Education Support Program.
  • Stock options for regular employees working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Up to four weeks of paid time off and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
