Apache Kafka DevOps Engineer

Location: Hybrid work in Lisbon or Porto, Portugal

What you will do

• Administer and evolve the Apache Kafka platform.
• Design and manage cluster architecture, including brokers, KRaft, replication, and min.insync.replicas.
• Configure and manage Kafka Connect and Schema Registry with Avro and JSON.
• Implement security controls such as mTLS and ACLs.
• Tune JVM, retention, and cleanup policies, and manage storage and persistent volumes.
• Resolve incidents and continuously improve platform reliability.

Requirements

• Experience administering Apache Kafka.
• Strong knowledge of Azure.
• Fluent Portuguese and English.
• Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Availability for hybrid work in Lisbon or Porto, Portugal.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
• Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka.
