Quality Engineer (IoT)

Location: Tysons, Virginia, United States; office work required 4 days per week

Base salary: $85,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Validate smart home device integrations across end-to-end systems.
• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and supporting documentation.
• Perform manual testing across hardware, firmware, software, and network components.
• Investigate defects by analyzing logs, metrics, and system data, then track issues through resolution.
• Set up, configure, and maintain test environments, devices, equipment, and applicable automation setups.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and engineering teams to assess risk and improve quality.

Requirements

• 0–3 years of quality assurance or related technical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work across hardware, software, and networked systems.
• Ability to work with incomplete information and ambiguous problems while taking ownership of assigned systems.
• Employment authorization sponsorship and other immigration-related support are not available.

Nice to have

• Exposure to test automation frameworks or tools.
• Familiarity with Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or another programming or scripting language.
• Experience analyzing logs, system data, or network traffic.
• Exposure to IoT, embedded, or distributed systems.
