LLM Engineer (TypeScript/NestJS)

What you will do

• Design and extend production-grade LLM applications and agentic workflows using NestJS, XState v5, and the OpenAI SDK.
• Build conversation-machine infrastructure with guard and action registries, flow validation, database-driven configurations, and Epicenter design-time tooling.
• Develop and evolve Epic Support Assistant and Agent Support Assistant products, including chatbot and customer-support copilot capabilities.
• Integrate MCP servers and implement tool-use, human-in-the-loop, escalation, clarification, fulfillment, and retrieval workflows.
• Evaluate and tune models from OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, and other providers while balancing quality, latency, throughput, reliability, and cost.
• Build resilient production infrastructure with retries, fallback routing, caching, streaming, rate limiting, observability, BullMQ, Redis, and PostgreSQL.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and operating production LLM systems such as chatbots, AI assistants, agent copilots, RAG systems, or orchestration platforms.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js engineering skills, including TypeScript strict mode and NestJS API development.
• Production experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, agent design, tool calling, model evaluation, observability, and failure-mode analysis.
• Fullstack experience across React, databases, infrastructure, production operations, REST APIs, asynchronous workflows, queues, events, and caching.
• Experience with state-machine modeling, automated testing, monorepos, and interconnected services.
• Must be able to work remotely from Brazil or Portugal.

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP, Langfuse, AI gateways, semantic search, retrieval architectures, or multiple foundation-model providers.
• Experience operating AI workloads at scale and shipping low-latency conversational products.
• Background in customer support, player support, gaming, or high-volume consumer products.
