Data Platform Engineer (Web3)

Location: Remote within Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, or Mexico. Employment eligibility requires residing in an approved hiring jurisdiction. Work outside the primary country of legal residence is limited to 90 days per calendar year. Working hours must overlap with Eastern Time (ET).

What you will do

• Deliver streaming and data infrastructure for CRE, CCIP, Data Feeds, and Data Streams using Redpanda/Kafka and Flink.
• Scale streaming and Kubernetes workloads, resolve throughput and recovery bottlenecks, and define service-level indicators for consuming services.
• Reduce incidents, manual interventions, and maintenance through automation, actionable alerts, tested recovery procedures, and repeatable vulnerability remediation.
• Connect Redpanda topic traffic, Flink processing, and BigQuery usage to consuming teams and services to improve cost accountability.
• Build reusable Terraform modules, deployment workflows, and documentation for self-service provisioning, testing, scaling, and retirement of AWS and Kubernetes resources.
• Identify infrastructure consumers and product dependencies to guide service improvements.

Requirements

• Proven experience operating large-scale distributed systems, streaming platforms, and data processing infrastructure, with a strong understanding of availability, consistency, failure modes, and performance trade-offs.
• Deep expertise in one or more of Apache Flink, Redpanda/Kafka, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, Airflow, or Trino, including system internals, complex troubleshooting, or performance optimization.
• Experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes workloads, including resource management, scaling, and safe rollouts.
• Experience building reusable infrastructure modules, self-service capabilities, and CI/CD workflows that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate services independently.

Nice to have

• Experience building and operating Apache Flink pipelines in production, including monitoring, failure diagnosis, and recovery management.
• Hands-on production experience operating AWS Aurora/RDS, including provisioning, backup and recovery, failover, rightsizing, and cost optimization.
• Hands-on production experience operating Kafka or Kafka-compatible platforms such as Redpanda, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading, debugging, and writing production-quality Java and/or Go code.
• Contributions to open-source infrastructure or data projects through code, tooling, documentation, or actionable bug reports.
• Experience using Terraform to provision and manage production infrastructure through version-controlled, reviewed, and repeatable changes.
