Senior Python Developer

Location: Remote from Portugal

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs with Python and Flask.
• Understand a complex existing application and implement new features without disrupting working functionality.
• Design asynchronous processing and background-job workflows with Celery and RabbitMQ.
• Work with MongoDB and process data using Pandas and NumPy.
• Debug application issues, write automated tests, review code, and maintain high engineering standards.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with Python as the primary language.
• Strong Python knowledge and hands-on experience building REST APIs with Flask.
• Experience with Celery, asynchronous processing, and a message broker such as RabbitMQ.
• Hands-on MongoDB experience, ideally with PyMongo, plus experience making safe changes in large codebases.
• Experience with automated testing, Git, GitHub, pull requests, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum teams.
• Professional working proficiency in English and residence in Portugal are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, GitHub Actions, or AWS services.
• Knowledge of Node.js or Vue.js.
• Experience delivering financial services projects, including pensions or insurance.
