Design Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid schedule with office attendance every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Salary: $205K–$238K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead the architecture of the design system across design, documentation, and production code, including source-of-truth models and contribution workflows.
• Build and maintain accessible, reusable, well-documented components and guidance for people and AI agents.
• Create automation and guardrails that keep design, documentation, and code aligned while reducing manual maintenance.
• Improve product UI through interaction patterns, micro-animations, component states, accessibility, consistency, and visual polish.
• Partner with Product and Design to design and implement reusable components and reference patterns.
• Enable designers and engineers through documentation, pairing, reviews, workshops, conventions, and practical tooling.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing and building production hirify.globalend experiences.
• Strong hirify.globalend engineering skills with modern web technologies and component-based architecture.
• Deep experience architecting, building, or maintaining design systems across design and code.
• Experience with design-engineering tooling and automation such as visual regression, design-token pipelines, component documentation, linting, or CI checks.
• Strong accessibility fundamentals, including semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard interactions, focus management, and inclusive component states.
• Strong communication and teaching skills, plus a portfolio demonstrating shipped design-engineering work.

Nice to have

• Experience with large hirify.globalend codebases, multiple product teams, and mature or evolving design systems.
• Background in customer support, customer operations, collaboration software, internal tools, developer tools, or workflow-heavy SaaS.
