Principal Applications Engineer (Silicon Photonics - SiPh)

Location: Beaverton, Oregon, United States; regular day shift. This is an onsite role.

Salary: $94,100–$123,480 per year, depending on experience, skills, and background.

What you will do

• Define technical requirements for advanced optoelectronic test and measurement solutions.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for on-wafer semiconductor measurements and silicon photonics test applications.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Marketing, Manufacturing, Global Sales, and Field Applications teams.
• Design, execute, and analyze complex application experiments to evaluate product performance and customer use cases.
• Develop application methodologies, best practices, and technical documentation for product deployment.
• Create advanced technical training and mentor junior engineers across multidisciplinary projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a master’s degree, or a PhD without experience.
• Experience with silicon photonics devices and technologies, including waveguides, optical transceivers, photodiodes, VCSELs, beam optics, and integrated photonic circuits.
• Experience in applications engineering, field applications engineering, technical sales, or customer-facing technical support.
• Familiarity with semiconductor wafer probing systems, automated test environments, semiconductor processing, and advanced packaging.
• Proficiency in Python test scripting, JMP data analysis, semiconductor characterization, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting.
