Silicon Photonic (SiPh) Test Engineer

Location: Essex Junction, United States; full-time work at the SiPh Lab with some remote work flexibility.

Salary: $69,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support wafer- and module-level Silicon Photonics test solutions for high-speed photonic integrated circuits.
• Use GF proprietary and commercial automated test equipment solutions.
• Maintain and develop processes for delivering silicon to and from the SiPh laboratory.
• Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, Logistics, Test Equipment, Safety, and Facilities teams to operate the SiPh test floor efficiently.
• Apply debugging, calibration, and de-embedding techniques to electrical, electro-optical, and optical measurements.
• Follow Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements and programs.

Requirements

• Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in calibration and de-embedding for EE, EO, and OE measurements.
• At least 2 years of experience bringing development solutions into high-volume manufacturing.
• Hands-on engineering and strong debugging skills, including familiarity with lasers, optical power meters, polarizers, optical fibers, SMUs, and PNAs.
• At least 4 years of experience with MS Office and diagnostic software.
• Fluent written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cadence design automation, PCB design, and SolidWorks for 3D printing.
• Scripting and programming experience with Smalltalk, C, C++, and Python for automation and statistical data analysis.
• Experience driving yield improvements through internal manufacturing or third-party OSAT partnerships.
• Project management, leadership, innovation, and technical communication skills.
